Our Club began in 1984. Betty Luntz was our first president. She knew President Reagan when he was the governor of California and she was active in Republican Politics in California.

When Louise Keene was president in the 2000s she created a new logo & began singing “God Bless America” and “Happy Birthday” to the members who had birthdays that month at the end of each meeting.

Mission Statement

Tucson Republican Women support and promote the principles of the Republican Party through programming which educates, through newsletters that inform the membership on legislative issues, through supporting women running for elective office, and through campaigning for Republican candidates.

WHO ARE TUCSON REPUBLICAN WOMEN?

· We foster loyalty to the Republican Party and promote its ideals.

· We increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government through political participation.

· We encourage and support Republican women to become candidates for elective office.

· We serve as volunteers dedicated to electing Republicans to office at all levels of government.

· We are members and support the objectives of the National Federation of Republican Women and the Arizona Federation of Republican Women.

The Federation

Tucson Republican Women is a part of a larger organization known as the Federation.
There are three levels within the Federation. They are: National Federation of Republican Women or NFRW. Arizona Federation of Republican Women or AzFRW. Tucson Republican Women or TRW
As a member of the Federation, TRW must support the Federation’s major Bylaws and pay dues to both upper-level organizations. As a member of TRW, you are automatically a member of AzFRW and NFRW.

The History of the AzFRW

In 1920, under the guidance of a most interesting and energetic lady, Mrs. J. L. B. Alexander, a small group of women met weekly for the purpose of "study and promotion of the American system of government as exemplified in Republican Party principles and candidates." Our records show that this group was known as the Women's Republican League and soon began to expand into other areas of the state. Similar groups were forming in other states.

We find a resolution passed at one of their early meetings stating: "Recommendation adopted that woman be given representation on county, state and central committees, and that this organization have a voice in the selection of its representatives and apportionment of women workers."

There is an account of a 7 -day trip into 6 counties in the spring of 1924 when several clubs were formed. In May 1924, a formal constitution and bylaws were adopted
